Summary of Experience in Social Accounting and Audit
Aruna Subramaniam holds Masters Degrees in English and in Education. She acquired her M.Ed degree from the Central Institute of Education (CIE), University of Delhi, and has taught for over 20 years in India and abroad. She is also a qualified Social Auditor, accredited by Social Audit Network, UK
She helped start up the Bangalore chapter of the Centre for Social Initiative and Management (CSIM), a school for social entrepreneurs in 2007, and served as its Director till 2015. This role gave her the opportunity to interact with a wide network of social enterprises and social change agents and enriched her own ideas for triggering lasting change. She is now engaged in ramping up the activities of SAN India in Bangalore with a team of talented and dedicated social auditors.
She has travelled widely across Europe and Africa with her diplomat father and engineer husband, experiences which have underscored her belief that human aspirations are the same everywhere. She feels strongly that everybody should be given the opportunity to realise these aspirations and has drawn on her experience as an educator to set up the Vidyanjali Education Trust, which envisages the use of innovative pedagogical methods to give Indian schoolchildren a solid start in life.
